EFL WATCH: FOUR EXCITING EFL GAMES YOU MUST SEE THIS WEEKEND

THE CHAMPIONSHIP – Swansea City vs Cardiff City (20th March – KO 5:30pm)

After a humbling 4-1 defeat at the hands of Huddersfield Town, Swansea City recovered well enough, but some inconsistent form has seen Watford overtake them into 2nd. This shaky form was best shown by their last three games, where they were held to a draw by Blackburn Rovers, then grinded out a 1-0 win against Luton and then they were outplayed by Bournemouth in a 3-0 defeat. This is possibly a worrying run of form for Steve Cooper's side but they remain in the automatic promotion hunt, sitting three points off Watford with a game in hand, so certainly a lot to play for.

Mick McCarthy got off to a superb start as manager at Cardiff City, but has since slowed down slightly, although Cardiff have only lost one of their last thirteen. The biggest problem that the Bluebirds have faced as of late is scoring as in their last three games they have only found the net once. However, with the likes of Kieffer Moore and Harry Wilson, Cardiff are more than likely going to be finding the net sooner rather than later.

In what is set to be an intense South Wales Derby, both sides will be looking to build on their respective ambitions, with Swansea looking for automatic promotion and Cardiff trying to mount one final play-off charge.

LEAGUE ONE – Sunderland vs Lincoln City (20th March – KO 3pm)

It is safe to say that Lee Johnson has had a real impact at the Stadium of Light. Alongside winning the Papa John's Trophy this past weekend against Salford City, Sunderland are also one of the most in-form teams in the EFL. Unbeaten in eight league games, the Black Cats are dangerous in attack, with Charlie Wyke in the form of his life, and the unlikely centre back partnership of Dion Sanderson and Luke O'Nien keeping Sunderland solid at the back, with six clean sheets in their last seven games.

Times have not been so great for Michael Appleton's Lincoln City side as they have struggled as of late in the League. While they remain in 4th which is undoubtedly a positive, just one win in their last seven is not great at all. The 3-0 loss to Gillingham may have been a harsh score line, but it more or less summed up their last few defeats, as they have struggled to defend recently. Lincoln have proven this season that they are good value for their current position, and they have the ability to bounce back from this current predicament.

A battle between two sides chasing automatic promotion, Sunderland will want to build on their great form, while Lincoln will want to get back to winning ways.

LEAGUE TWO – Cambridge United vs Forest Green Rovers (20th March – KO 3pm)

Cambridge have been flat-out inconsistent in their recent games, trading wins and losses in their last six games. They sit in second, and despite playing the most league games out of all 24 teams in the league, Mark Bonner's side look set to be in and amongst the League Two title conversation. The 4-2 win against Oldham showed what Cambridge are capable of, as they went 2-0 down, before fighting back to score 4 without reply, with the help of Wes Hoolahan pulling the strings from midfield.

Sitting a postion below their opponents, Forest Green Rovers are looking to finally get out of League Two, something they've been trying to achieve since their promotion from the National League. After a shock 3-0 defeat to Stevenage, Mark Cooper's side have bounced back well, beating both Grimsby and Harrogate Town, with a draw to Morecambe sandwiched between the two. Cooper will be looking to Jamille Matt and Aaron Collins to fire them to promotion, and a big performance against Cambridge will be huge.

Two of the best sides in League Two are set to do battle, and this certainly be an exciting game as both teams hunt for the title.

WILDCARD – Burton Albion vs MK Dons (20th March – KO 3pm)

Burton Albion have been one of the strongest sides in the league since the arrival of Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and the Brewers look completely different to the side that looked as good as down in 2020. Their run of six straight wins were stopped by Blackpool who held them to a draw, but seven unbeaten just shows how much better Burton have been since the arrival of the former Chelsea man. The partnership of the experienced Michael Mancienne and loanee Hayden Carter has proven to work well and Burton fans will be hoping for that to continue this weekend.

Russell Martin has stuck true to his footballing philosophy despite some criticism, and has been reaping the rewards in this past week, with two wins on the bounce. It has been far from perfect this season for Martin's side, having been embroiled in an early relegation battle but MK Dons look set to comfortably finish in mid-table. A heavy possesion based style which means Martin's side tend to dominate games on the ball, but they have been open at the back at times which could come back to bite them against the Brewers.

Both teams are on good form and it is set to be an exciting game despite both sides seemingly cruising to a mid-table finish.
