PREM PREVIEW: THIS GAMEWEEKS MUST WATCH MATCHES

Another international week has come and gone and to be honest, I couldn't be happier.

From England's shock departure from the Nations League, to the spread of COVID-19 among players, the return of Premier League action couldn't come sooner - unless you're a Liverpool fan that is.....

So, what are this weekend's top three games?

SPURS VS MANCHESTER CITY - SAT 21ST - 17:30 PM (Live on Sky Sports)

Both these teams are unbeaten in the league in their past five games, but each team will be in a very different mood.

Jose Mourinho's Tottenham side will go into the game this Saturday, with an abundance of optimism and will be hoping to record another dominant win against a Manchester based side this season.

With four wins and a draw in their past five league games, Spurs sit second in the league, just one point behind league leaders Leicester.

Pep Guardiola however, won't be in as high spirit as his Portuguese rival this weekend, with his 2018-19 title-winning side having drawn three of their last five games.

One of Guardiola's biggest concerns, however, will be his squad's ability to score goals, having scored just one goal in each of the five games.

This worry will be heightened, due to Tottenham's lethal touch going forward in recent times, having scored 19 goals in eight games so far this season.

But with the potential return of Aguero for Man City, could Pep kickstart his sides season this Saturday with a win over title-contenders Tottenham?

LIVERPOOL VS LEICESTER - SUN 22ND - 19:15 PM (Live on Sky Sports)

This game sees first placed Leicester City face third-placed, Liverpool, in a game destined to be one of the games of the season.

Three words. A MUST WATCH.

If this game didn't already get you excited, then the recent catalogue of injuries Liverpool have been handed should really get your mouth watering at the mere idea of these two sides playing each other.

Unless you're a Liverpool fan that is.

With Klopp's entire starting back four likely to be out of the game this weekend, Brendon Rodgers will be chomping at the bit to unleash goal-machine Jamie Vardy on Liverpool's makeshift defence.

Trent Alexander-Arnold, Andrew Robertson, Joe Gomez and Fabinho, have all joined Virgil van Dijk on Klopp's growing list of injuries.

And with young defender Rhys Williams now being sent home from international duty with a hip injury, Liverpool will most likely have to look past their first choice youth prospect as well.

Leicester do however have injury woes for themselves, with long-term injuries to Ricardo Pereira and centre-back Caglar Soyuncu.

They may also be without, new boys Timothy Castagne and Wesley Fofana and regular keeper Kasper Schmeichel.

This game will definitely be a game for the attacking players, but even then Liverpool are weakened by the loss of Salah.

WOLVES VS SOUTHAMPTON - MON 23RD - 20:00 PM (Live on Sky Sports)

In a weekend of endless enthralling football games, picking this fixture over the likes of Arsenal is a testament to how good Southampton have been this year.

Sitting in fourth place is not a usual home for this southern side, having finished outside the top 10 for the past three seasons.

But praise must be given when praise is due and Ralph Hasenhuttl deserves all the plaudits coming his way at the moment.

Having had a rocky start to life in the Premier League, losing 1-0 to Cardiff in his first game in charge and then getting humiliated 9-0 by Leicester the following year - the joint-worst loss in the league's history - he has since stabled the ship and guided The Saint's to three consecutive wins and five wins in eight games, in his second full season in charge.

Nuno Espirito Santo's Wolves side have had a strong start to the season as well, but their continued success in England's top division now sees the midlands based club fly under the radar.

Having finished seventh in back-to-back seasons since getting promoted, their current position of ninth may seem slightly underwhelming.

But, with three wins and only one loss in their past five games, The Wanderers will be the first to take advantage of any over-confidence in the minds of the Southampton team this coming Monday.

This game will no doubt be an entertaining battle between two teams aiming for European football next season, so get ready for a Monday night epic to lighten up your lockdown blues.
