PREMIER LEAGUE ROUND-UP - 24 GOALS IN SIX GAMES, AS LIVERPOOL AND UNITED SUFFER HEAVY DEFEATS

Sunday saw one of the most incredible days in Premier League history as 24 goals went in across the six games.

Aston Villa kept up their 100% record in unbelievable style, Tottenham scored six at Old Trafford, and West Ham won big for the second game running away at Leicester.

Aston Villa 7-2 Liverpool

These two sides had both won all of their league games so far, but no one could have predicted what happened on a night for the ages at Villa Park.

Dean Smith’s side, who only stayed up on the final day of last season, hit Liverpool for seven with Ollie Watkins scoring a perfect hat-trick and Jack Grealish finding the net twice as well as providing three assists.

Watkins scored all three of his goals in the first-half with John McGinn also on the scoresheet for the hosts. Mo Salah did get one for Liverpool, but Villa led 4-1 at the break.

Ross Barkley netted on his debut for the Villains, and despite another consolation from Salah, a brace from Grealish sealed a truly ridiculous scoreline.

It’s the first time the reigning English champions have conceded seven in a league game since 1953.

Manchester United 1-6 Tottenham Hotspur

Old Trafford also witnessed a goal fest as Bruno Fernandes’ early penalty was quickly cancelled out by goals from Tanguy Ndombele and Son Heung-min.

Anthony Martial’s straight red card gave the hosts a mountain to climb, and it looked a near-impossible task when Harry Kane and Son added further strikes.

Serge Aurier got in on the act early in the second half, before United conceded a third Premier League penalty this season and Kane dispatched it for an astonishing 6-1 win for Spurs.

Leicester City 0-3 West Ham United

David Moyes’ home management went from strength to strength as West Ham dismantled Leicester at the King Power.

Goals from Michail Antonio, Pablo Fornals and Jarrod Bowen helped the Hammers to a second straight win and handed the Foxes their first defeat of the league season.

Arsenal 2-1 Sheffield United

Last year’s surprise package, Sheffield United, are yet to pick up a point this time around as they were narrowly beaten by Arsenal.

Quickfire goals from Bukayo Saka and Nicolas Pépé put Mikel Arteta’s side in control and they held on for three big points after a late consolation from David McGoldrick.

Southampton 2-0 West Bromwich Albion

Moussa Djenepo and Oriol Romeu were in the goals for Southampton as they comfortably saw off West Brom at St Mary’s.

It would have been pleasing for manager Ralph Hasenhüttl to see some different players on the scoresheet as Saints moved up to six points against the winless Baggies.

Wolverhampton Wanderers 1-0 Fulham

Fulham showed some signs of improvement after their disastrous start to the season as they were narrowly beaten at the Molineux.

Pedro Neto’s second-half goal was the difference in the end, but Ademola Lookman impressed for the Cottagers and they could have nicked an equaliser on another day.
