Exeter City have secured a goalkeeper as they have announced the signing of Cameron Dawson on a season-long loan from Sheffield Wednesday.
The goalkeeper made nine appearances for Wednesday last season, but in the two campaigns prior, he had made 50 appearances in the Championship.
Dawson signed a four and a half contract extension in January 2020, but has struggled for appearances since the pandemic began.
A tall 'keeper, Dawson comes in at 6ft 4 and plenty of Championship experience under his belt, which will certainly be an asset to the Grecians.
He is most known for his penalty save against local rivals Sheffield United for Wednesday, which helped him establish himself as the number one at Hillsborough.
Dawson came through the academy at Sheffield Wednesday but has spent time on loan at Plymouth Argyle, Alfreton Town, Chesterfield and Wycombe Wanderers, so he arrives with League Two experience.
Exeter City manager Matt Taylor said he had to be patient to find his ideal goalkeeper, but he believes Dawson is the man for the job.
"We were looking for a bit of experience - that experience at a higher level - and we're going to give him the opportunity to play as many games a possible and also influence the team.
"We had to be patient to make sure we got the right fit which we felt would suit our team - that backline or unit so to speak - and Cam is the right man for that."
