Exeter City have announced the signing of French midfielder Timothee Dieng, on a one year deal.
After failing to agree terms on a new contract at Southend, Dieng joins Exeter City and arrives with plenty of Football League experience.
Dieng has spent the last three years at Southend United, where he made over 100 appearances and was even made captain during Sol Campbell's reign as manager.
He had previously had spells at both Bradford City and Oldham Athletic, making over 65 and over 60 appearances respectively.
The Frenchman is a midfielder by trade but has played both at centre-back and as a striker, so he will offer the Grecians some versatility.
The defensive experience could make him a perfect candidate to play alongside Archie Collins in the Exeter midfield, allowing Collins to attack slightly more.
Dieng has also played in Ligue 1, and he made his professional debut for Brest against PSG.
Exeter City manager Matt Taylor believes Dieng can make a big impact on the squad and looks forward to seeing him work.
"Tim is a great midfield player and is vastly experienced.
"He's been back over in France with his family so it took a little time to get him across with quarantine regulations, but he's here now and has a three week period to get ready for the season.
"We're really looking forward to the impact he can have on these players. With the departures of Nicky Law and Jake Taylor it was the right thing to do to bring in another midfield player."
