Another Premier League season has begun. With every new season comes new young talents either graduating from the clubs academy’s or being signed on from overseas, hungry to make an impact. We have all seen the impacts players like Phil Foden, Mason Greenwood, Buyako Saka have made for the clubs already whilst still in the very early stages of their careers. Let’s take a look at some players I think could be the next to make their mark in the top flight this season.

Marc Guehi

Marc Guehi is a name that will recently be known around the Championship. After two great campaigns on loan at Swansea City from Chelsea, Chelsea decided to cash in and sell Guehi to Crystal Palace for a fee around £20 million. The defender racked up some impressive stats at Swansea. With an average rating of 6.94 via sofascore and racking up 16 clean sheets in his most impressive campaign last time out at Swansea, he certainly caught a lot of people’s eye. The defender helped guide the Swans to two playoff campaigns including a playoff final at Wembley last season. Crystal Palace decided that he was the right man to lead them forward. A strong centre back who plays like he has lots of experience at only 20 years of age is very hard to come by. With the defender starting straight away for Palace his ceiling has no limits as to how good he could be. At only 20 he has a long and successful career ahead of him and he could be one of the best centre backs in the division soon enough.

Oliver Skipp

After a season long loan at Norwich last season, achieving not only promotion back to the Premier League but a league title with it, it’s safe to say the future is looking bright for Oliver Skipp. The 20 year old midfielder has always been one of the most highly rated young players coming out of Tottenham. He spent last season in the Championship to gain some needed experience and game time. With an average rating of 7.02 last season and 2 Team of the Week appearances it’s safe to say he impressed. The saying ‘Never fall in love with a loan player’ was definitely one that came to mind with Norwich fans towards Skipp. With all the fans doing exactly that due to Skipp being so good. With him now back at Tottenham, with three games being played and Skipp starting all three, Tottenham have achieved three wins including a 1-0 win against reigning champions Man City. That vital experience Skipp gained also showed his parent club that he was ready for Premier League football. At 20 years of age and already starting for a team like Spurs, it’s safe to say the future is bright for Oliver Skipp and he could really develop into an even greater player than he already is.

Illan Meslier

The 21 year old French keeper signed for Leeds from FC Lorient for a fee around £5.85 million last season. He started off with a great first season in top flight football. With 11 clean sheets, an average of four saves a game and only conceding 1.5 goals a game, he helped guide Leeds to a 9th place finish after their promotion to the top flight the season before. An average save percentage of 74% and a 10.2% cross stopping rate which was the third best of any goalkeeper in the world, Meslier really made a name for himself. At only 20 years of age his stats are mightily impressive and would be considered to be stats of a much more experienced keeper. Going into the 2021/22 season, it will be a huge season for Illan’s career. If he can recreate or even exceed his stats from last season, he could become one of the best keepers in the division this season. Hopefully guiding Leeds to a finish closer to European football. A very good goalkeeper who is only going to improve with experience at the highest level.

Valentino Livramento

After sealing a permanent move from Chelsea to Southampton for around £5 million, 18 year old Valentino Livramento has got a big season ahead of him. After coming through the ranks at Chelsea, from youth all the way the under 23 football, Chelsea decided now was the right time to move Valentino on. Southampton look to have got a great coup with the young defender. A strong defender who can also attack working brilliantly as a right wing back as well as your standard full back. Southampton have shown faith in the young full back by starting him in all of their first three matches this season and it looks like it has payed off. With them getting two draws and one especially against Manchester United, Livramento stood out as one of the better players in each game. With him being able to bomb forward but also track back well and show off his defensive capabilities too. At only 18 years of age and being able to stand out and start every week for a top flight side is mightily impressive. I think that his 5 million pound price tag could turn out to be an absolute steal this season and i’m sure that is a transfer Southampton will definitely not be losing any money on in the future. Definitely a player to keep an eye on this campaign.
