Many have doubted the likelihood of Liverpool’s title defence this season because of many injuries that have to be dealt with. The long list of players on the side-lines dealt a blow to their form in the early stages of the season, yet despite the seemingly dooming situation, the Reds are seemingly to proving the doubters wrong with their strong form lately, beating strong title contenders Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 and annihilating Crystal Palace 7-0 in their latest outing in London.

Jurgen Klopp’s selected line-ups for competitive fixtures this season may not look like the way it was before, especially during last season, bringing in players from the youth setup, but surprisingly, Klopp’s selections have garnered satisfying results.

Sitting second before their winner-gets-top-spot clash against Spurs, the Reds surely had the pressure on them as this match would be a huge indicator for their chances of defending their crown.

With Diogo Jota missing due to an injury, Roberto Firmino, who has played limited minutes since the arrival of Jota, stepped up to the challenge and took Liverpool to the summit with a last-minute goal.

Their recent crushing of Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park sent a big statement to all the league’s clubs that they are not done yet.

The deadly attack of Sadio Mane, Firmino, and Mohammed Salah finished the job. With many clubs taking advantage of their seemingly inconsistent form, the champions have fired back in style.

It may not be surprising to see Liverpool on top of their game and of the league. But what is surprising is how Klopp managed to rotate the squad amid the big injury blows.

“We dealt the whole season already only with the circumstances- with injuries and stuff like this, you cannot prepare, you just have to sort these kinds of problems,” Klopp said in an interview on the club’s official website.

“In the moment, it’s just one hour after the game where we think it’s fine- but from tomorrow on we try to prepare for all the different scenarios again and do what we have to do to make sure we will win football games in the end of December."

The German seems to prove Jose Mourinho wrong that the best team lost in their clash. Klopp makes a point about managing a team that sometimes it is not always about preparing. Managing a team also involves solving big problems because there will be many times that problems arise in unprepared circumstances.

Klopp is most-definitely getting it right for Liverpool in the middle of the season, and if he maintains this consistency, more silverware will surely be heading to Anfield.
