MAGIC MOYES: HOW WEST HAM HAVE BEEN COACHED TO SUCCESS

After a very successful season last year, West Ham are looking to progress even further this season, not just as a team but also as a Premier League identity.

Many people thought that last season West Ham may have over achieved finishing sixth which saw them become a contender in the Europa League.

Fans not being in attendance was an excuse that the neutral football fan would often exploit when talking about West Ham’s triumph last season but now people are starting to track back on this idea.

The fanbase at West Ham has struggled in recent times to get onboard with the project in East London, with protests over ownership creating a toxic environment inside the ground for most home games.

The re-appointment of David Moyes did not help this at all initially due to his poor spell at the club previously.

This time however, it looks as if Moyes has been given a bit more freedom regarding transfers and also a bit more time than previously to try and help him create his ideal team.

I think now though, there is a solid David Moyes team in the works, Moyes has found his old Everton here at West Ham and he has found players that really work in his system such as Tomas Soucek.

Many Irons fans have likened him to a Czech Marouane Fellaini and that seems to be the player who Soucek is most similar to.

Other players as well, such as Vladamir Coufal and Michael Antonio, are more examples of players who really suit Moyes’ style of play with the big number nine using his raw strength and power to bully most centre backs in the premier league and the Czech right back marauding up and down the right flank.

Jarrod Bowen is now settling into Premier League football really well to the point that he is even being considered for the England national team according to multiple reports.

There were also rumours that in the summer Liverpool had made Bowen one of their top targets for the future which must mean that he’s doing something right.

Ultimately, all of these players have shown how much Moyes has influenced their progression in football because players including Antonio and more recently Bowen used to play lower league football and now they are proving that they, on current form, are some of the best in the Premier League.

Now, West Ham are enjoying a good start to their European campaign and are looking like one of the better teams in the competition.

Anchored down by the Rolls Royce of a midfielder Declan Rice, the Irons have been extremely hard to break down as well as very good on the counterattack.

Their style of play has a very good balance to it which is probably why they are doing so well, but a player that really needs to be praised is the player I previously mentioned, Declan Rice.

Rice has only been dispossessed once in 900 minutes in the Premier League so far this season and currently has three assists as well as also having one goal from the deep lying midfielder position.

Furthermore, Rice’s passing goes unnoticed sometimes mainly because of the simplicity of it.

People forget how important it is to go sideways and backwards sometimes to try and control the tempo of the play which Rice does fantastically.

His forward passing and passing range is also very good and shouldn’t go unnoticed either.

West Ham look to be a proper team this season under Moyes, and they will definitely be a very hard team to beat this season.

Sometimes we see the European competition hinder teams, but West Ham are not showing that right now and they possess a potential to hit the top six again this season.
