MAN CITY: GUARDIOLA'S WAIT FOR THE QUADRUPLE IS OVER AND HERE'S WHY

After going 21 games unbeaten, Pep Guardiola side look simply unstoppable, the citizens are without a doubt one of the best teams on the planet.

Are they good enough to finally win the fabled quadruple? Let’s take a look…

Premier League

After a shaky start to the season, City are now running away with the title. At the time of writing Pep’s side sit on 65 points, 15 more than Manchester United.

How has Pep done this? By prioritising his team’s defence.

The citizens have been without a striker for much of the season, and though they are the top scorers in the league, they have only scored 3 more than United.

The point of difference from their rivals has been their defence, City have conceded just 17 goals in the league all season, 15 less than Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.

This remarkable record can be put down to the signing of Ruben Dias, who has truly had a transformative effect on the side.

With Gabriel Jesus now fully fit, and the Brazilian scoring a brace against Wolves on Monday night, City’s attack will only go from strength to strength.

The title, after just 27 games, is surely theirs.

Caraboa Cup

City still have one final hurdle in the competition this season, Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham Hotspur.

The Citizens have reached the final three seasons in a row, winning two of them, and should thrash Spurs come April the 25th.

The Lilywhites are having a terrible season in 8th place in the league, and though Harry Kane and Son Heung-min will of course provide some threat, the rest of the team is so average that City should easily have this one in the bag.

FA Cup

City face Everton at Goodison Park in the FA Cup sixth round, which could prove to be a troubling game for Guardiola’s side.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side have been highly inconsistent this season, but on their day can be fantastic.

When they beat Liverpool 2-0 at Anfield this season, they showed just how good they can be, especially when Dominic Calvert-Lewin is on form.

That being said, City should come away from this one with a victory.

Chelsea and Manchester United are still in the competition, but City should be able to overcome them. United simply don’t have the quality to go toe to toe with Guardiola’s side, and though Thomas Tuchel has rejuvenated Chelsea, they don’t stand a chance unless he can get the £116 million duo of Kai Havertz and Timo Werner kicking.

It looks like City will win this one as well.

Champions League

The holy grail of trophies for City has alluded them thus far, but is this year finally the season they get their hands on the trophy?

With City looking like they’ll easily get past Gladbach, and Barcelona, Real Madrid and Juventus looking weak, only two teams stand in their way, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich.

Bayern reign supreme in the Bundesliga and look like a well-oiled machine. With Robert Lewandowski scoring 28 goals in 22 Bundesliga games, Hansi Flick’s side are still performing at the level which won them the competition last season.

PSG have also looked fantastic this season and look a true threat in the Champions League under Mauricio Pochettino.

Kylian Mbappe and Neymar look very settled in a side which has really come together, shown by their thrashing of Barcelona 4-1 at the Camp Nou.

The Parisians would prove a tough test for City. Both these side are undoubtably better in attack than the Citizens, but not by that much, and City right now have by far the best defence in Europe, making them favourites for the competition.

Given their domestic dominance, and the fact that City are at least equal to the best sides on the continent, the Citizens really could win the quadruple this season.

They will go down as one of the best sides in Premier League, and maybe even European History.
