The summer transfer window has closed after a total Premier League spend of £1.218bn.

But who are the winners and losers?

Arsenal -

In: Thomas Partey, Gabriel Magalhaes, Willian, Pablo Mari, Cedric Soares, Dani Ceballos, Alex Runarsson

Out: Lucas Toreirra, Matteo Guendouzi, Emiliano Martinez, Matt Smith, Konstantinos Mavropanos, Trae Coyle, Jordi Osei-Tutu, Sam Greenwood, Tyreece John-Jules, Mark McGuinness

The deadline day signing of Thomas Partey has changed how this window has gone for the Gunners. While they would’ve liked Houssem Auoar as well, losing out on both their main targets would’ve been really underwhelming for Arsenal. Gabriel also looks a solid centre back.

Aston Villa -

Out: Callum O'Hare, Matija Sarkic, Rushian Hepburn-Murphy, James Chester, Andre Green, James Bree, Indiana Vassilev 

Villa’s business seems to have gone unnoticed, but they’ve made some really nice additions. It may take Watkins some time to adapt to the Premier League - or not after his hat trick this weekend - but he’s a quality player that’s still young. Martinez and Barkley are also great signings, both of whom are Premier League proven.

Brighton -

Out: Dale Stephens, Anthony Knockaert, Jurgen Locadia, Martin Montoya, David Button, Matt Clarke, Viktor Gyokeres, Leo Ostigard, Aaron Mooy, Glenn Murray, Shane Duffy, Tom McGill

A nice window for the Seagulls showing their desire to not just survive this year. I think Graham Potter has done a nice job at Brighton and he has now been backed by the board. If Lallana can stay fit and it is a big if, he will bring some great quality to the Brighton’s attack that already has some good options.

Burnley -

A poor window from Burnley showing they are just happy staying in the Premier League and have no desire to try and move up the table. They have struggled at the start of this season, but I think they’ll be good enough to survive once again.

Chelsea -

Out: Willian, Lewis Baker, Josh Grant, Jamie Cumming, Nathan, Danilo Pantic, Izzy Brown, Jamal Blackman, Pedro, Tariq Uwakwe, Ethan Ampadu, Conor Gallagher, David Zappacosta, Luke McCormick, Jon Russell

Unbelievable additions by Chelsea, addressing nearly all of Frank Lampard’s needs. They are looking to close the gap to Liverpool and Man City and on paper they now have a squad good enough to do so. My only concern for them would be that they made too many signings and it may take them a while to gel as a group. The pressure is now on Lampard to deliver.

Crystal Palace - 

In: Eberechi Eze, Nathan Ferguson

Out: Jason Lokilo, Stephen Henderson, Ryan Inniss

Quiet window for Palace but I like the additions they have made. Eze looked quality in a poor QPR side last season and Nathan Ferguson was a key part for West Brom in their promotion last year. Crucially they have also managed to keep hold of Wilfred Zaha.

Everton - 

In: Robin Olson, Ben Godfrey, Niels Nkounkou, Allan, James Rodriguez, Abdoulaye Doucoure

Out: Fraser Hornby, Morgan Schneiderlin, Kieran Dowell, Cuco Martina, Oumar Niasse, Maarten Stekelenburg

A brilliant window for Everton. They’ve got a brand-new midfield which has been brilliant so far and signed a young centre back in Ben Godfrey. People questioned whether James Rodriguez would perform in the Premier League but after four games there aren’t many people questioning him now.

Fulham -

In: Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Antonee Robinson, Anthony Knockaert, Mario Lemina, Harrison Reed, Alphonse Areola, Kenny Tete, Ola Aina, Ademola Lookman 

Out: Cyrus Christie, Luca de la Torre, Alfie Mawson 

Fulham have been very cautious in the market given what happened last time they were in the Premier League. I don’t think that the signings they have made will be enough for them to escape relegation.

Leeds -

In: Raphina, Diego Llorente, Rodrigo, Robin Koch, Jack Harrison, Joe Gelhardt, Illan Meslier, Helder Costa, Charlie Allen, Cody Drameh, Sam Greenwood

Out: Jordan Stevens, Alfie McCalmont

A good window for Leeds as they look to put their mark on the Premier League. To get Rodrigo was a great bit of business and he suits Beilsa’s style perfectly.

Leicester -

In: Wesley Fofana, Timothy Castagne, Cengiz Under

Out: Calvin Bassey, Daniel Iversen, Ben Chilwell, Viktor Johansson 

Some great additions for the Foxes and they managed to replace Chilwell for half the price they received for him. Fofana looks a quality young centre-back and Under showed moments of brilliance for Roma.

Liverpool -

In: Diogo Jota, Thiago Alcantara, Kostas Tsimikas 

Out: Rhian Brewster, Dejan Lovren, Adam Lallana, Morgan Boyes, Kai McKenzie-Lyle, Kamil Grabara, Loris Karius 

While not many additions for the Reds they have still bought in a lot of quality this window. It goes without saying that Thiago is one of the best midfielders in the world, as shown by the part he played in Bayern Munich’s Champions League Victory. Jota suits Liverpool’s style to a tee and it wouldn’t surprise me if he earnt the starting striker role ahead of Roberto Firmino.

Manchester City -

In: Ferran Torres, Nathan Ake, Ruben Dias

Out: Leroy Sane, Nicolas Otamendi, Jack Harrison, David Silva, Claudio Bravo, Yeboah Amankwah, Angelino

Addressed the centre-back problem by signing Nathan Ake and Ruben Dias but they could not get the man they really wanted in Kalidou Koulibaly. Despite those two centreback signings those defensive problems from last year are still showing.

Manchester United -

In: Donny van de Beek, Alex Telles, Amad Diallo, Edinson Cavani, Facundo Pellistri

Out: Chris Smalling, Tahith Chong, Angel Gomes, Alexis Sanchez, Joel Pereira, Dylan Levitt, Kieran O'Hara, Diogo Dalot 

Did their business late and while Donny Van de Beek and Alex Telles will be good signing, Cavani looked like a real panic buy and United fans would’ve preferred strengthening in different areas rather than another striker.

Newcastle -

In: Jeff Hendrick, Callum Wilson, Ryan Fraser, Jamal Lewis

Out: Yoshinori Muto, Jake Turner, Tom Allan, Kell Watts, Dan Barlaser 

They have quietly gone about their business and bought in some really decent players. Wilson, Fraser and Lewis have all performed in struggling Premier League teams before and Wilson might be the striker they’ve needed to ensure they comfortably survive this year.

Sheffield United -

In: Rhian Brewster, Aaron Ramsdale, Wes Foderingham, Jayden Bogle, Max Lowe, Ethan Ampadu

Out: Luke Freeman, Jake Young, Jake Eastwood, Tyler Smith, Marcus Dewhurst, Leon Clarke

They completed their big deal of the window towards the end, bringing in Rhian Brewster from Liverpool. Brewster did well in the Championship for Swansea last year but the gap to the Premier League is a big one. However, with the Blades struggling at the start of this season the pressure is on for Brewster to start scoring straight away.

Southampton - 

In: Theo Walcott, Mohammed Salisu, Kyle Walker-Peters, Ibrahima Diallo

Out: Sofiane Boufal, Cedric Soares, Mohamed Elyounoussi, Mario Lemina, Harrison Reed

Not many additions for Southampton although Kyle Walker-Peters is a player who did well on loan last year and has plenty of potential to get better and better.

Tottenham -

In: Carlos Vinicius, Gareth Bale, Sergio Reguilon, Matt Doherty, Joe Hart, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg 

Out: Ryan Sessegnon, Oliver Skipp, Luke Amos, Jan Vertonghen, Victor Wanyama, Troy Parrott, Timothy Eyoma, Jack Roles

A solid window for Spurs who strengthened in both their full-back positions and of course bought Gareth Bale back from Real Madrid. If he can stay fit there is no question that Bale will add quality to an already lethal attack.

West Bromwich Albion -

In: Filip Krovinovic, Branislav Ivanovic, Matheus Pereira, Cedric Kipre, Grady Diangana, David Button, Conor Gallagher

Out: Kane Wilson 

Some good signings by Albion especially Pereira and Diangana who were crucial to their promotion last season. Not sure they’ve added enough Premier League quality players though and that has shown after their first few games.

West Ham United -

Out: Jack Wilshere, Albian Ajeti, Anthony Scully, Jeremy Ngakia, Grady Diangana

A really poor window with the Hammers with not many additions and losing Grady Diangana to a potential relegation rival. The West Ham fans and even some of the players have shown their anger towards the owners for their poor window.

Wolverhampton Wanderers -

In: Nelson Semedo, Fabio Silva, Fernando Marcal, Vitor Ferreira

Out: Matija Sarkic, Matt Doherty, Elliot Watt, Ryan Giles, Will Norris, Benny Ashley-Seal 

A great window for Wolves who managed to replace Doherty with Semedo from Barcelona and add some more depth to their squad. Despite the fact Fabio Silva is young he has already shown his quality playing for Porto and is only going to get better.
