Ronaldinho

It is near impossible to talk about skills in football without talking about Ronaldinho. Arguably one of the best to ever play the game, the Brazilian spent most of his career dazzling defences all over Europe and South America. With his trademark Elastico, Ronaldinho would take on all comers and to add insult to injury, do it with a big smile on his face. You know you are a special player when you get a standing ovation at the Bernabeu while playing for Barcelona. His greatness was recognised in 2005 when he won the Balon D’or and FifPro World Player of the Year.

Jay-Jay Okocha

Jay-Jay Okocha broke onto the scene in 1993, where the relatively unknown Nigerian, playing for Eintracht Frankfurt at the time, broke past the Kalshurer midfield and proceeded to toy with world class keeper Oliver Kahn before finding the back of the net. To do that to Kahn at 20 years old was nothing short of sensational. It was not until his spell at Sam Allardyce’s Bolton Wanderers that English fans truly started to pay attention to Okacha’s incredible ability. Ghosting past defenders with ease and with a good free kick on him, Okacha became one of the most liked players in Premier League history. Bolton fans were right when they said, Jay-Jay Okacha was so good, they named him twice.

Neymar

In 2012, it would have been hard to find a football fan that hadn’t seen a compilation of a young, flamboyant Brazilian winger taking liberties with defenders before finding the back of the net. That youngster was called Neymar and he was leading Santos to glory almost by himself. Many thought that Neymar was just a player that looked good in YouTube videos and would never cut it at any big side but how wrong were they. The Brazilian’s trickery stayed with him as he moved to Barcelona, where he carried on mocking defences and firing past goalkeepers. Neymar then went on to cement a legacy at PSG, in which he led the club to multiple league titles, scoring some ridiculous goals on the way.

Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo was always destined to be a success. After making his Sporting CP debut at just 16 years old, Sir Alex Ferguson was able to snap him up for just under £13m and the rest is history. When George Best calls your debut ‘undoubtedly the most exciting debut’ he had ever seen, you know you are impressing the right people. Ronaldo’s ability to take on his man and close control, not to mention his patented Ronaldo Chop which has given left-backs nightmares for years. Having one the Balon D’or five times it is no doubt that CR7 is one of the greatest of all time. The Portuguese superstar would not only take on players with ease, he would normally finish his moves by scoring, making him one of the best goal scorers in football history.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic

While not being a player who couldn’t always take the ball from his own half and run past the whole team, Ibrahimovic is one of the most unique footballers of all time. Without a doubt one of the best strikers to ever play football, Zlatan’s knack for being able to finish in any style makes him one of the best tricksters to play the game. For example, his overhead kick against England or his incredible flick for LA Galaxy against Real Salt Lake are the types of goals we will only see once in a lifetime and for that, Ibrahimovic is one of the best tricksters in football.
