TRIPLE TRIUMPHANT TUCHEL: WHAT HAS TUCHEL ALREADY CHANGED AT CHELSEA?

Frank Lampard’s sudden yet unsurprising exit as Chelsea manager caused shockwaves for the Blues in different aspects. Inconsistent performances that led to a not so good place in the table left the West London club questioning where will they be heading this season. It is a surety that fans were left frustrated with the move made on Lampard.

In the midst of those, the management knows that the club should not remain in the darkness of losing Lampard for too long. And that darkness is hopefully drawing to a close with the entry of former Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain manager Thomas Tuchel as the new boss.

Looking to revitalize a club that is almost out of the woods, Tuchel is aiming to turn Chelsea’s season around following some impressive results in his first three games, drawing goalless against Wolverhampton Wanderers, winning 2-0 against Burnley and a 1-0 win over London rivals Tottenham. Perhaps the most impressive aspect of Tuchel’s tactics in his opening three games is his team’s defensive strengths. With no goals conceded in his opening three games, Tuchel becomes the first Chelsea boss to achieve such a feat since Jose Mourinho in 2004. But the question that still remains is how will the gaffer strategizes and address the seeming problems within the team that he took on?

The obvious thing that he did was he focused on experience. Being a newly sworn in manager means that he is still not familiar with the club. He included some of the unnoticed players under Lampard in the starting line-up during his first two games. An approach far different to his predecessor, but one that has worked well thus far.

"We have a good mix of young and experienced players. Today I cannot choose a team after one day in training, it's not fair so this may be the most unfair line-up we ever do”, Tuchel said in an interview before the Wolves game according to Goal.

Another thing that the German is instilling in the club is patience in play. Chelsea’s passing game in the past three games was great evidence of this, giving the forwards golden opportunities to attack. This will be an avenue for the Blues to develop and improve their attacking play, increasing the chances for new signing Timo Werner to get back to his goalscoring best.

"We never got scared and we stayed patient. The attitude and energy was very good. We only conceded one shot in the 94th minute," the manager said according to BBC.

"It was a hard team effort and a deserved win. The guys against Wolves also took their chance. I'm very happy with the performance and energy. It gives us a big boost for confidence."

These results will give Chelsea something to look forward to once more. With a load of talent in his hands, Tuchel will look to lead Chelsea to the greener pastures of football.
